A Statement of Ingredients and Environmental Impact from Longhairlovers

Longhairlovers Luxe products are mixed and bottled by hand using the most natural, organic ingredients possible. We believe in using natural, organic ingredients in our hair care products because the scalp is porous, (it's skin, after all), and it's able to carry ingredients directly to the bloodstream. You wouldn't eat products with sulfates, parabens, petrochemicals or silicones and you shouldn't put them on your hair, either.

We've gone one step further and have banned the use of artificial colors and fragrances in our products because they can cause allergic reactions in some people. Why we're not vegan. Just like the Native Americans before us, we believe certain animal products can be extremely beneficial to the human race as long as they're created and used with respect. The animal products we use in our hair care include silk amino acids, marine collagen, and fully refined emu oil - all fantastic ingredients for promoting healthy hair growth.

The emu oil we source comes from AEA Certified (American Emu Association) processors. This means each batch of emu oil is analyzed by a 3rd party lab for pureness and composition of the oil. Results must meet AEA standards, all batches are labeled and fully traceable.

Fatty Alcohols We get many questions about two fatty alcohols that appear in our conditioners: cetearyl alcohol and benzyl alcohol. These are not the "drying" alcohols you may think of. Instead, they are lubricants and emollients that help bind water in the hair to prevent frizz and give a soft, velvety texture.

Certifications: The majority of the ingredients we use are certified by one or more of the following entities: Oregon Tilth Certified Organic, Ecocert Certified Organic, USDA Certified Organic, OQK Certified Kosher, American Emu Association Certified, Transfair Fair Trade Certified.

Fragrance Notes: The only synthetic fragrance ingredients we use appear in our Crowning Glory Perfume. Synthetic Musk and Synthetic Civet are humane alternatives to the real things, which have been traditionally extracted from the Musk Deer and the Civet Cat, respectively.

Packaging We use minimal packaging for our products including post-consumer recycled plastic for our shampoo & conditioner bottles. Our Shea-mu Hair Butter is packaged in recycled glass jars, while our Shea-mu Shampoo Bars are wrapped in a clear vegetable cellulose bag that's completely biodegradable.
