Why an Emu Oil based Lotion?

Emu oil is natural healing oil that rebalances the lipid fatty acid composition in dry, aging skin. It has been shown to have the following properties:

  • Anti-inflammatory activity
  • Penetration enhanced for topical skin products
  • Rapid skin cell rejuvenation
  • Significant scar reduction
  • Does not clog pores
  • Stimulates skin immune system
  • Promotes faster healing

Enhanced with these amazing ingredients:

Rice Bran Oil (Oryza Sativa): A botanical oil that is a rich source of polyunsaturated fatty acids, containing Omega 3, 6, 9, unique Linoleic and Linolenic Acids. It also includes Vitamin "E", which acts as an antioxidant. Unsaturated fatty acids are very important for the restoration of cells.

Safflower Seed Oil: Pressed from the blooming plant's seeds, safflower oil contains linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that offers many benefits for skin including maintenance of cell membrane integrity. In skin care, safflower oil is used as a protective barrier to prevent water from leaving your skin. Linoleic acid is also an important carrier of vitamins A, D, K, and especially vitamin E. it reduces the risk of "clogged" pores that can lead to blackheads and acne outbreaks. It helps maintain skin elasticity by enabling the skin to retain moisture and removing dry skin. It reduces the appearance of wrinkles by smoothing and hydrating the skin.

Seabuckthorn (Seed) Oil: Seabuckthorn is a deciduous plant that grows in the highlands of Russia and China. The oil is pressed from the berries. This cherished "super fruit" is rich in antioxidants, essential amino acids, vitamin E, rare Omega 7 and 190 other bioactive nutrients which assist in skin repair. It's been used to assist in healing skin injuries, burns, wounds, eczema, lesions, sun damaged skin, and abrasions. Current studies are being performed on its ability to combat wrinkles, acute dryness and other symptoms of prematurely aged skin.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil: This oil has a unique composition, containing over 98% long-chain fatty acids; it is a prized medium for applications which require a moisturizing and rejuvenating benefits for the skin and face. It forms a moisture barrier (eliminating the need for petroleum based ingredients) and will assist the skin with preventing moisture loss.

Meadowfoam is also beneficial for our environment! It was first developed in the 1970's, and was introduced as an alternative to sperm whale oil in order to protect the species. The pressed seeds are fed to cattle and other livestock, and are a source of nutrients for these animals. While grown in the field, birds, insects, mice, and other critters, also eat the nutritious seeds. The meadowfoam plants themselves are a renewable crop, and are usually grown as a rotation crop for grass seed farmers. This eliminates the need to burn the fields in between grass seed plantings, and also provides farmers with additional income. Meadowfoam also requires less fertilizer and pesticides than most crops, assisting farmers and the environment.

Argan Oil: Called "Liquid Gold" Argan oil is most commonly used as a skin moisturizer to hydrate and soften skin. With its high vitamin E and fatty acid content, argan oil is the ideal product to give skin a natural boost.

Seabuckthorn (Fruit) Extract: Seabuckthorn extracts from the fruit or the seeds can actually improve metabolism and retard skin maturation, thus slowing the aging process, possibly because of the effects of its high levels of Vitamins A and E. It is also used as a natural sunscreen. The tocopherols and carotenoids can trap and reduce the formation of UV-B induced toxic products in skin cells.

Grapfruit Seed Extract: Added for its antibacterial, antiseptic, and astringent properties. Talk about a godsend for oily, acne-prone skin types. These very same properties also make it an excellent natural preservative in skin care products. No need for parabens or phenoxyethanol, common toxic ingredients found in conventional and greenwashed products.

I have benefited from all the products you carry.  This is my first time using Body Silk, and it has a wonderful texture.  In fact, it will be a good all season lotion.  I have been thinning it out with a bit of water during the hot weather, and that works, too!

I like Emu Body Silk - Emu Oil lotion because it is not greasy and smooths on to the skin cleanly. I have used it    especially in the winter because the skin on my hands tends to crack and bleed. It is soothing and healing.
