Emu Oil For Sensitive Skin

Emu oil is hypoallergenic, which means it has a very low potential for irritation of the skin. It is shown to have almost no side effects, and this means that even at full strength, emu oil has irritation levels so low that they are the same as those found in putting water on the skin, i.e. practically nonexistent and makes it a good choice for those with sensitive skin. According to Alexander Zemstov, MD, MS, a double-blind study at the Indiana University School of Medicine concluded that the oil is "non-irritating, highly moisturizing and nurturing to the skin."

Further, emu oil is bacteriostatic. Tests show that in its pure state, emu oil grows no bacterial organisms. This gives emu oil a long shelf life and ensures against it carrying other microbial irritants.

And last emu oil is non-comedogenic, that is to say it does not clog up pores. This cannot be said for mineral oil (one of the current, popular carrier oils in cosmetics and rubbing oils) which causes outbreaks of pimples when used.

Because emu oil is very efficient as a carrier oil and will encapsulate and bring other compounds through the skin you should be sure to wash with a gentle cleanser before applying emu oil.

From years of selling Emu Oil and its products to thousands of people, many of whom looked to Emu Oil because of sensitive skin and chemical allergies, I have come across only one person who developed a reaction and it was very mild. That said, every "body" is different. If you do experience any reaction, stop using the oil. If you purchase it from Songline, please return it for a full refund.
