Dead Sea Salt is full of minerals your skin needs.

Exfoliate and deeply moisturize your body with our Emu Oil based Salt Scrub - now using Dead Sea Salts and your choice of new Lemongrass/Lime/Cedarwood Blend which you will find light and invigorating or soothing Lavender scent.  We highly recommend this scrub for your body especially elbows, knees and feet.

This scrub removes the top layer of dead skin cells, increases circulation and rejuvenates your skin as the emu, olive, and vitamin E oils penetrate deeply leaving your skin smooth, supple, refreshed and glowing. The therapeutic effects of Dead Sea salt are derived from its supremely rich mineral composition. Though it contains more than 20 elements, these are the most abundant:

Magnesium – Involved in more than 300 essential reactions in your body including muscle movements, DNA repair, energy production, and cell signaling, magnesium is a powerful anti-inflammatory that also fights against depression, improves sleep, and strengthens bones. Dead Sea salt is comprised of between 31% and 35% magnesium chloride.

Potassium – An electrolyte with a positive charge that conducts electricity within the fluids in bodily cells, potassium is vital to hydration, heart rhythm, muscle contractions, and pH balance. It makes up 20% to 28% of Dead Sea salt.

Sodium – Though often vilified because our diets tend to contain excessive amounts of salt, sodium is an essential electrolyte needed for the absorption and transportation of nutrients, fluid balance, blood pressure, and the transmission of nerve signals. In Dead Sea salt, it makes up 3% to 8% of its mineral content.

Calcium – Playing a major role in healthy bones and teeth, calcium is also necessary to circulate the blood, release hormones, regulate body weight, and stabilize enzymes. Dead Sea salt is 0.1% to 0.5% calcium chloride.

Sulfates – Found in mineral springs and volcanic ash, sulfur helps synthesize proteins, supports cartilage and connective tissues, helps the body resist bacteria, and cleanses the body of toxins. It comprises 0.05% to 0.2% of Dead Sea salt.

The secret most people don't understand is exfoliation.

It doesn't matter how much moisturizer you apply to your skin, if your skin is not exfoliating (definition - to cast off or remove the surface) properly, it will continue to look dull and dry. Remember that your top layer of skin is essentially dead skin cells. Your skin continually creates new cells underneath while surface cells slough off; but as we age this process (like so many others) slows down. The result is dry skin cell buildup which covers your skin's natural glow and can exacerbate other skin conditions.

Dry Skin - moisturizes can't re-hydrate through this barrier

Acne - oils and sebum become trapped underneath clogging pores resulting in breakouts

Hyperpigmentation - brown spots aren't able to break down and fade naturally

To achieve healthy, glowing skin you need to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new replacement cells. Additionally, scrubbing with salt also helps to remove bacteria from the skin and unclog pores. When applied to the skin, salt kills bacteria and reduces inflammation along with any itching and pain associated with bacterial-related skin disease. Many people report significant improvements in eczema and psoriasis.

How to Exfoliate with Songline Scrubs

  1. Start your exfoliation with clean skin; our Emu Oil and Goat Milk soap and Body Wash are both wonderful mild cleansers.
  2. Shake or stir the scrub to an even consistency. If your scrub gets dry just add Organic Olive Oil.
  3. Wet the skin with warm water and apply a small amount of scrub.
  4. Rub gently in circles with your fingers or a facial sponge, avoiding the delicate under eye area.
  5. Use more scrub only as needed a little goes a long way.
  6. Rinse with warm water followed by cold, to close your pores, and then lightly pat your skin dry.

There is no need to apply a moisturizer as the emu oil will already have begun to penetrate, hydrate and soften skin while it delivers its bio-nutrients, collagen and elastin to underlying layers to assist with new cell generation. This should be repeated once or twice a week, but no more than that. These scrubs are also great in the shower for your arms and legs and again - no need to moisturize after rinsing.
